Video Blog: States like California free stem cell scientists from legal and funding uncertainties

With a flurry of six, count ’em six blogs posted in the past 24 hours, our bloggers Kevin McCormack and Don Gibbons who are embedded at the 11th annual meeting of the International Society for Stem Cell Research (ISSCR) have been fast and furious with their laptop keyboards and smartphones. Now Don has taken it up a notch by also contributing a live video blog from one of the meeting’s poster sessions.

In this video, Don talks to Aaron Levine of Georgia Tech about his work looking at how state funding impacts research. He basically says that states like California help boost research because they free scientists from the fluctuations of federal funding and the uncertainty that a lawsuit like Shirley vs Sibelius can cause (see a previous blog about the lawsuit).
