The researcher tackling diseases of aging

Jill Helms is not your average Stanford faculty member. She is a professor in the Department of Surgery, has published extensively, is a CIRM‑funded stem cell scientist, and plays a leading role at Ankasa Regenerative Therapeutics. But she is so much more, focusing her work on diseases of aging while also podcasting.

She is a gifted public speaker and a fashion enthusiast. She has even ridden her horse to work—fitting for someone at Stanford, known as “The Farm.” At home, she lives on her own farm called “Follow Your Bliss,” named after philosopher Joseph Campbell’s belief that following your passion leads you to the life meant for you. Dr. Helms says that philosophy captures her life perfectly, and she feels enormously fortunate.

We felt fortunate, too, when she sat down with us to talk about her work, life, and love of fashion for CIRM’s podcast, Talking ‘Bout (re)Generation.

We hope you enjoy the latest episode!
